A brief analysis of the development status of the textile industry in various countries around the world

The Standard Group analyzes that in the era of economic globalization, the textile industry should control key trends from the general direction of the global textile industry. Below, the Marketing Department of Standard Group will briefly analyze the development status of the textile industry in various countries around the world. 1. Asian and Southeast Asian countries: Except for Indonesia and Thailand, which have a certain scale of textile exports, they are basically clothing exports. Countries with more advantages in exports are: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, etc., among which Bangladesh imports clothing from the EU The market ranks 6th, Vietnam ranks 4th in the Japanese apparel import market, and Indonesia ranks 6th in the US apparel import market. Countries such as Bangladesh and Vietnam have outstanding cost advantages. The minimum wage for workers in garment factories is only US$45 per month, and energy prices such as land, water, and electricity are also very favorable. India. It is the third largest cotton-producing country in the world, and the textile industry is large and powerful. The textile and garment industry is India's pillar industry, accounting for 20% of the national manufacturing industry, employing 15 million people, and textile and garment exports accounting for 25% of total exports. The main markets are the European Union and the United States, ranking No. 3 in the EU market and No. 4 in the US market. India's spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing industry equipment and technology are very high, and it has become a strong competitor for me. Pakistan. The textile and garment industry is the country’s pillar industry, accounting for 46% of the country’s manufacturing industry, with 15 million employees, accounting for 38% of manufacturing employment, and textile and clothing exports accounting for 66% of total exports, making it the fourth largest in the world. The cotton-producing country has a strong textile industry with strong spinning and weaving capabilities. Its export products are mainly primary textile finished products such as yarn and cloth. The competitiveness of Pakistan's cotton yarn has the potential to surpass that of our country. Its textiles rank sixth, seventh, and eighth respectively in the textile import market of the United States, the European Union, and Japan, and the proportion of finished products such as garments is relatively low. Japan. Japan is the third largest economy in the world and the main market for China's textile and apparel exports. In 2003, the Japanese economy showed signs of recovery, but consumer spending was still in a downturn. Nevertheless, due to the huge consumption base of Japan's textile and apparel industry, and most of the textile and apparel industry has transferred manufacturing to China, its consumer market is still heavily dependent on imported products. In the Japanese textile and apparel import market, Chinese products account for 71.5%, with strong price and quality competitiveness. Therefore, the main challenge facing our export companies in the Japanese market is not to expand market share, but to provide deep-processed, high-quality products, increase product added value and brand services. 2. America, Mexico and Central and South American countries: After the United States, Canada, and Mexico signed the 'North American Free Trade Agreement' and other regional preferential trade measures in 1994, they have greatly liberalized quotas and tariffs. The US textile industry is largely in Mexico and the Caribbean countries. Investment, Mexico and Central and South American countries’ textile and apparel exports to the United States have continued to grow. Mexico has become the No. 1 source of textile and clothing imports for the United States for six consecutive years since 1996. A beneficiary of the provisions of the Caribbean Basin Trading Partner Act (CBTPA) that are exempt from import quotas and tariffs on US parts. 3. Turkey in Europe: In 1996, the EU and Turkey confirmed the 'Customs Union Agreement' and mutually cancelled the quotas and tariffs on textile and apparel products imported from each other. Turkey's textile and clothing industries are strong. In 2003, it exported nearly US$6 billion in clothing, accounting for 82% of its total clothing exports and ranking second in the EU's source of imports. 4. Central and Eastern Europe and the countries along the Mediterranean Sea: includes Romania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Morocco, etc. Up to now, the EU has cancelled the textile and apparel quotas and tariffs on all EU candidate countries and Mediterranean countries (except Egypt) through various bilateral or multilateral trade preferential arrangements. The main export market for textiles and garments in these countries is the European Union, and the main trade method is to import textile raw materials, yarns and fabrics from the European Union and process them into garments to be sold back to the European Union. In the EU apparel import market in 2002, Romania, Tunisia, Morocco, and Poland ranked 3rd, 4th, 6th and 9th respectively. Article Source:
