Analysis of the Reasons Affecting the Random Pilling Test Results

The random-turning pilling tester is mainly used for the pilling test experiment of textiles. In the process of using clothing fabrics, friction and wrinkles will always be caused in various situations, and the pilling and pilling conditions of fabrics are different in different situations. The influence of this article (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. and the principle of the simulated random-turning pilling tester will briefly explain the principle and influencing factors of this type of experiment. 1. Test principle: According to the test standard, in the cylindrical test box, the sample is rubbed against the cork liner installed on the inner wall of the test chamber, driven by the airflow of the rotating blade. The air pressure present in the test chamber ensures uniform friction of the specimen. Under the action of a certain period of time, the surface of the test sample is fuzzed and pilled. After the test, the samples were taken out and rated in the rating box. 2. Reasons affecting the test results: 1. Air pressure in the test chamber: According to the test principle, the size of the air pressure in the chamber and the rotation of the rotating blade directly affect the friction between the test sample and the cork liner. According to the relevant standards, the air compression device is required to make the air in each test chamber reach 14-21KPa. At the same time, the air tightness of the test chamber should be ensured, and the door should be tightly closed during the test. 2. Sampling method: According to the standard, it should be ensured that the three samples are from the same test sample and do not contain the same warp and weft yarns. Specimen size (105±2) mm*(105±2) mm, mark the sample, seal the edge of the sample with adhesive, hang it to dry, and the drying time is not less than 2h. 3. Use of test equipment and accessories: cork cylinder liner: length 452mm, width 146mm, thickness 1.5mm. The cork pad needs to be replaced after 1 hour of use, and the unused side is rubbed against the sample. Put gray cotton wool together with the sample into the test chamber (weight 25mg, length 6mm) to improve the friction and fluffing performance of the sample, and the hair balls are visible. 4. Rating box and rating method: Since the rating of the random-turning pilling test is subjective, it contains certain errors. First, understand the installation, light source, and observation method of the sample in the rating box according to the standard. Place the tested sample and an untested sample (or a pilling standard) side by side in the middle of the sample plate of the rating box in the longitudinal direction of the fabric. Use a white fluorescent tube or bulb for illumination, and the position of the light source is kept 5°—15°, the observation direction is kept 90° from the sample plane°±10°. The distance between the eye with normal vision and the specimen should be 30cm—50cm. Ratings are subjective and at least 2 ratings are recommended. Record the number of grades for each sample, and the result of a single person's rating is the average value of the grades for all the samples. The test result of the sample is the average value of the ratings of all personnel. If the average value is not an integer, it should be corrected to the nearest 0.5 level and used“—”means, such as 3—4. If a single test result differs from the average by more than half a class, the class number for each specimen shall be reported at the same time. 5. Cleaning of the test chamber: Before each test, the cleanliness of the test chamber should be checked and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.
