Detailed explanation of the test method of color fastness to dry cleaning

In life, most people choose to send their precious clothes to dry cleaning, thinking that dry cleaning can not only remove stains, but also maintain the beauty of clothes. In fact, dry cleaning of clothes can also cause discoloration or staining of light-colored parts. Today, I will take you to understand the test method of color fastness to dry cleaning, as well as the assessment of color fastness to dry cleaning by product standards of commonly used clothing. Dry cleaning refers to the washing of clothes with organic chemical solvents, including a dry-in-dry-out washing method that removes oil stains or stains. What are the common methods for laboratory testing of color fastness to dry cleaning? GB/T 5711—2015 'Color fastness of textiles to perchloroethylene dry cleaning' ISO 105 D01: 2010 'Textiles to color fastness test - Part D01: Color fastness to perchloroethylene dry cleaning' Test steps: The above two standard test methods are the same , the test steps are as follows: Step 1: Raise the water temperature of the water bath in the mechanical device to the test temperature of 30°C. The second step: Prepare the combined sample, the sample size is 40mm×100mm. Test objects can be garments, fabrics, yarns or loose fibers. Step 3: Sew two pieces of undyed square cotton twill along three sides to make a 100mm inner size×100mm cloth bag, put a combined sample and 12 stainless steel discs into the bag, and close the bag mouth in any convenient way. Step 4: Put the cloth bag containing the combined sample and the stainless steel disc into the stainless steel container. Step 5: In a fume hood, add 200 mL of tetrachloroethylene to a stainless steel container (at a temperature of 30 °C). Step 6: Cover the stainless steel container, put it into the mechanical device, start the operation, and treat it in a water bath at 30°C for 30min. Step 7: Take out the cloth bag from the container, take out the sample, squeeze or centrifuge to remove the excess solvent, and hang the sample in the ventilation equipment to dry. Using the original and the original lining fabric as reference samples, use a gray sample card or instrument to evaluate the discoloration of the sample and the staining of the lining fabric. Different products have different requirements for color fastness to dry cleaning. For everyone, the assessment grades of some commonly used clothing for dry cleaning color fastness are listed. In addition, the commonly used product standard: GB/T 14272—2011 'Down Clothing', GB/T 22700—2016 'Washing and finishing clothing', GB/T 22849—2014 'Knitted T-shirt', GB/T 33271—2016 'Woven Infant Clothing', GB/T 22853—2009 'Knitted Sportswear', FZ/T 73025—2013 'Infant Knitted Clothing', FZ/T 73045—2013 'Knitted Children's Clothing', FZ/T 81006—2017 'Denim Clothing', etc., do not require assessment of color fastness to dry cleaning.
