Fabric drying rate AATCC201 heating plate test

The fabric drying rate tester is used to test the drying time and drying rate of fabrics under the requirements of AATCC201 standard to evaluate the quick-drying performance of fabrics. This method is suitable for all types of fabrics worn by all, including knitted, woven, non-woven and fabrics taken from the final product. Main parameters: 1. Heating plate: 305mmX305mm; 2. Metal plate: 150mm×40mm×20mm; 3. Heating plate temperature: 37±0.1°C; 4. Temperature display resolution: 0.01°C; 5. Wind speed: 1.5m/s±0.1m/s; 6. Infrared temperature sensor: 15——50°C±0.1°C; 7. Test fabric thickness: 0——10mm; 8. Drip volume: 0.2ml±0.001mL (adjustable). Test principle: The tester simulates the drying process of sweat on the fabric when the human body sweats. The fabric is placed at a constant temperature of 37°On the heating plate, drop 0.2ml of water on the heating plate, and dry the sample with a wind speed of 1.5m/s on the cloth. Use the infrared temperature sensor to test the change of the cloth temperature to determine whether the cloth is finished drying, and obtain the drying speed according to the test drying time. Test samples: 1. Cut three specimens (15.0×15.0±0.5 cm) from the right, middle and left positions of the entire area of the sample width for each test. 2. If testing garments or final products, take specimen garments from different parts, i.e. sleeves, back and front. 3. If testing socks or socks, cut the specimen lengthwise and test each unique structure. Test operation: 1. Turn on the temperature controller for the flexible heater and fan, and the temperature of the metal plate is stable at 37±1°C. 2. Using a hot wire anemometer, verify that the airflow on the board is 1.5±0.5 m/s, measure the airflow directly behind the infrared thermocouple probe. 3. Place the sample on the metal and place the sample for 5 minutes to equilibrate to the temperature of the metal plate. The side relative to the specimen is placed next to the skin against the surface of the metal plate. Use a peel to secure the top edge of the specimen, close to the metal plate face of the fan. 4. Place the infrared thermocouple probe in the middle of the sample 1.0±0.1 cm above the sample. It is beneficial to have a thermocouple probe marked on the metal plate centered on the field of view of the IR. 5. Start the recorder, lift the free end specimen (opposite side of the magnetic strip) and apply 0.200±0.003 ml of water on the plate below the sample probed directly under the infrared thermocouple, reposition the sample so that it covers the water droplet, starting at the time the sample is in contact with the water. 6. Look at the sample to determine the wicking profile produced by the water, confirm that the water is not wicking the edge of the sample, if it is water then wicking to the edge of the sample use a larger sample or reduce the volume. 7. Collect and record the temperature every second until the temperature returns to the initial temperature. Repeat the test on additional specimens.
