Precautions when doing the color fastness test to washing

Washing or soaping fastness refers to the degree of color change of dyed fabrics after washing with washing liquid. The gray grading sample card is usually used as the evaluation standard, that is, the evaluation is based on the color difference between the original sample and the faded sample. The washing fastness is divided into 5 grades, 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. Fabrics with poor washing fastness should be dry cleaned. If wet cleaning is carried out, more attention should be paid to the washing conditions, such as the washing temperature should not be too high, and the washing time should not be too long. So, what should you usually pay attention to when doing the color fastness test to washing? 1. Determine the type of cloth to be produced. Carefully analyze the customer's samples to determine the type of cloth used for the production of large-scale goods, cut each piece of cloth into small pieces and sew them together, make a mark, and test washing according to the washing water requirements, and also test the shrinkage of the goods. For the ready-to-wear denim sent by the garment factory for washing, it is necessary to check the goods for inspection to see if there are any smudges, rotten holes, cloth defects, needle holes, lathes, and excessive thread ends. 2. Pilot test/test cylinder. In order to finally decide on the formula of large-scale goods, usually 50 samples are washed in the pilot test. After the department confirms that it is correct, it will be fully inspected by the back-channel inspectors. Only when the authenticity rate reaches 98% can large-scale goods be produced. If there are any problems, report to the relevant departments in time. 3. Produce bulk goods. Due to the difference in the capacity and liquor ratio of the washing tank used for washing the sample and the goods, the color and light of the cloth will be different, so the washing water formula must be revised. One tank is carried out in a cycle. It is absolutely not allowed to dry and check after all washing. If there is any problem, analyze and deal with the problem on the spot, and report to the relevant department in time. 4. Make a board/sample. According to the customer's requirements, the samples are washed in the plate washer/plate tank. Any model must first have 10 samples. After drying, it will be approved by the department and then confirmed by the company's corresponding merchandiser. Only after the genuine product rate reaches 100% can the sample be carried out, and if there is any problem, it can be improved in time. During the trial washing process, every parameter of the washing water formula that has been changed shall be retained, and the fabric samples before washing shall be archived.

What Are the ISTA Standard Tests and ISTA Testing Equipment?
ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) standard tests are globally recognized transportation packaging test procedures designed to evaluate the safety and reliability of products and their packaging throughout the logistics chain. By simulating real-world transportation conditions such as drops, vibration, impact, stacking, and compression, ISTA testing helps identify potential packaging weaknesses before products enter large-scale distribution. ISTA testing equipment—including drop testers, vibration testers, incline impact machines, and compression testers—plays a critical role in accurately reproducing these conditions under laboratory settings. Proper selection and use of ISTA-compliant equipment enable manufacturers to reduce transportation damage, lower return costs, enhance packaging design, and improve customer confidence in product quality and logistics safety.
