Test method for colour fastness to artificial light GB8427

GB/T8427-2008 'Textile Color Fastness Test to Artificial Light Color Fastness Xenon Arc' is a very widely used standard in the textile industry. Produced after the revision in 1998, the light-resistant aging test chamber is a test equipment for testing. (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. is the manufacturer. Welcome to inquire. Comparison between test methods: my country's wool textile industry has been using method 3 to determine the light fastness of wool textiles. The product standard stipulates that the minimum allowable fastness of dark and light-colored samples is grade 4 and grade 3, respectively. The entire exposure cycle Forty hours is more convenient and fast. Other industries such as clothing, knitting, etc. (the standard light fastness index of their products is generally 4) also use this method, and each textile testing organization is also interested in its short cycle. Color fastness to light. However, for those products with high requirements for light fastness, such as military, police or special textiles, the light fastness index is around 6. It is obviously not suitable for such products to refer to the methods of the wool textile industry. It seems that only method 2 is more suitable. Of course, it can also be exposed to the sun according to method 3. If the allowable fastness is grade 6, according to the provisions of method 3, the blue label of grade 6 and 5 is required for testing. The exposure cycle is from grade 6 blue label to gray card grade 4 and gray card 3 level, so that the test cycle is no different from method 2. It should also be noted here that some product standards specify allowable fastness levels 3-4 for the product and claim to be tested in accordance with method 3. This is obviously wrong because the experimenter cannot choose the blue label for the experiment. The standard stipulates that the allowable fastness index of the product is grade 3-4. If grade 4 is selected, it is higher than the standard half grade; if grade 3 is selected, it is lower than the standard half grade. It is the lack of understanding of method 3 by product standard makers, which has led to the difficulties and confusion of standard users. This example shows that sometimes other factors create obstacles to the use of the method, rather than the problem of the method itself. Therefore, the basic principle of our selection of exposure methods is that we should not blindly consider the cycle and cost, but also consider the characteristics of the method and the sample and the provisions of the product standard. On the premise of ensuring the scientific and accurate data, we should choose an optimized and reasonable test method. Gray sample card grade Figure 1 The value of △E* corresponding to the gray sample card Determination of the exposure time of the blue wool standard sample People generally choose the blue wool standard sample or the color change between the exposed and unexposed parts of the sample is equal to the gray sample card Levels 4 and 3 serve as benchmarks for controlling exposure time. The reason why the gray sample card grades 4 and 3 is selected is because the human eye feels that the color difference is more obvious when it reaches the gray sample card grade 3, and the rating is more scientific at this time. In addition, the curve between ΔE* and time representing color change of the blue wool standard sample in this interval is close to linear (see Figure 1), and the results are more consistent. In GB250-1995, it is also pointed out that the value of △E* corresponding to level 4 of the gray sample card is 1.7±0.3, while the gray sample card level 3 corresponds to △E* value of 3.4±0.4.

In an age when textile testing equipment is increasingly important, the researchers believe manufacturers should pay close attention to their results.

What Are the Test Methods for Fabric Bursting Strength?
Fabric bursting strength measures resistance to rupture under concentrated load. Three primary test methods are used:

Ball Burst Method (ASTM D3787): Steel ball penetration for textiles/films using testers like GT-C02-2.

Hydraulic Method (ISO 13938.1): Fluid pressure on rubber diaphragm for industrial fabrics via GT-C12A.

Pneumatic Method (ISO 13938.2): Compressed air for breathable materials tested with GT-C12B.
Results are influenced by raw materials, yarn properties,
