Universal Instruments actively expands the Chinese market with innovative products

Dr. Zhipeng Lv, general manager of Universal Instruments Asia, said that China is the world's largest electronics manufacturing center. Universal Instruments is determined to increase its market share in China and accelerate its development in Asia. This year, the Flexbond® hot-press welding machine, which is specially designed for flexible circuit board assembly, will be launched. In the second half of next year, a new concept terminal assembly automation platform Uflex will be launched in China. Universal Instruments recently held the opening ceremony of the Asia Advanced Technology Center. After the meeting, Dr. Zhipeng Lu said that the United States-based Universal Instruments has been leading the North American market and its market share in China needs to be increased. In view of the huge Chinese market, Dr. Lu believes that Universal Instruments has a lot of room for growth in the Chinese market and hopes to expand its market share in the Chinese market as soon as possible. When talking about the market outlook for next year, Dr. Lu estimated that the market will remain the same this year without major ups and downs. Universal Instruments will focus on several bright spots with great potential in the market, namely smart phones, large servers, and automotive electronics. And wearable electronics, launched the corresponding automation platform to provide customers with unique assembly solutions. When talking about wearable electronics, Dr. Lu pointed out that wearable electronics are products that are just starting out. They need to use flexible circuit boards to be easily worn on the body or hands. This poses a big challenge to the electronics assembly industry. For example, how to assemble components on a flexible printed circuit board and connect it to a rigid board, etc. Dr. Lu said that the Flexbond hot press welding machine that Universal Instruments just launched in April this year can meet the needs of flexible circuit board assembly and is very popular. He continued that Universal Instruments has received a lot of customer inquiries, ranging from requesting a demonstration of Flexbond operation, providing a prototype to customers for on-site evaluation on the production line, to trial production for customers. In addition to being able to deal with wearable electronics, Dr. Lu pointed out that Flexbond can meet the thin and light demands of consumer electronics. Dr. Lu continued that the current notebook computers are getting thinner and thinner, and the current bottleneck is the failure to make the connectors thinner, and Flexbond can just cope with the welding of soft boards with soft boards or hard boards, completely replacing connectors. The thickness of the notebook computer is not limited by the connector. Speaking of the opening of the Asia Advanced Technology Center, Dr. Lu said that the areas served by the center include China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. The main function is to provide customers with tailor-made support services. Dr. Lu took a Taiwanese customer as an example. This manufacturer needs to mount flexible components, but ordinary nozzles cannot complete this process. If you ask the US headquarters for help, it may take a month. However, the engineers of Universal Instruments in Taiwan developed a suitable suction nozzle within a few days, which greatly shortened the waiting time for customers. In addition to the Asian Advanced Technology Center in Shanghai, Universal Instruments currently has engineers in Suzhou, Shenzhen, Zhongshan and other places, ready to help local EMS factories to solve production problems. As for the manufacturing of the Universal Instrument itself, Dr. Lu emphasized that all the machines are produced in the United States and imported into China. Dr. Lu said that since Universal Instruments is a precision instrument, to ensure product quality, it will only be produced in the United States. In order to ensure the leading edge of Universal Instruments in the market technology, Dr. Lu said that the company invests 10% to 15% of its Ru0026D budget every year. Located in Shanghai’s Caohejing Emerging Technology Development Zone, Universal Instruments’ Asia Advanced Technology Center has set up a product demonstration center to show customers how the Fuzion? The mass production environment, how the Radial88HT radial component inserter has become the benchmark for high-productivity automatic through-hole machines, and how the DIMM feeder solution can easily support high-volume special-shaped placement applications and so on.
